About the N.E.A.T. Program®
The N.E.A.T. Program® is an acronym for Nutrition, Exercise, and Attitudes for Tomorrow. It is a multi-faceted program designed to help breast cancer patients cope with the side effects of treating breast cancer. By using diet and exercise as a vehicle, The N.E.A.T. Program® helps combat nausea and fatigue resulting from traditional chemotherapy and radiation treatment plans. The program is run by exercise specialists who guide a participant through a series of stretching, cardiovascular, and strength training routines.
Along with helping participants increase tolerance to their treatment plans, the program helps participants increase flexibility, stamina, range of motion, energy levels, and balance. Class offerings include traditional group, water, and yoga classes. The N.E.A.T. Program® also acts as a support group. Many of the participants experience a special camaraderie with the group because everyone has traveled the same journey.
Each new patient is scheduled for a 30 minute one-on-one appointment with an exercise specialist to:
A diagnosis of breast cancer has life-altering effects of women. The physical symptoms of treatment can feel all-encompassing. The N.E.A.T. Program® arms women with the tools they need for a renewed spirit and healthy behaviors that become a way of life and increase chances of survival.
All services in The N.E.A.T. Program® are provided free of charge to the participants through grants and donations funded by the Texas Chrysalis Foundation.
