History
The Texas Chrysalis Foundation emerged as a result of the desire of three female physicians to provide total care for their patients. The primary focus of the Texas Chrysalis Foundation is to offer The N.E.A.T. Program® to women who are undergoing breast cancer treatment or who are breast cancer survivors. The N.E.A.T. Program® which is an acronym for Nutrition, Exercise, and Attitudes for Tomorrow, focuses on nutrition and exercise to help combat the side effects of nausea and fatigue resulting from traditional chemotherapy and radiation treatment plans.
The N.E.A.T. Program® was initially offered to patients of Dr. Mary Brian, Dr. Lea Krekow, and Dr. Janice Tomberlin. In 1999, these physicians began practicing together in an effort to offer breast cancer patients surgical, medical oncology, and radiation oncology therapies in one location. The first class of The N.E.A.T. Program® was held on May 1, 2000.
In an effort to expand this program to breast cancer participants beyond their practice, the Texas Chrysalis Foundation was created in 2003. The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping breast cancer survivors and their families. In keeping with their mission to provide a mechanism for wellness by healing the mind, body, and spirit through education, information, and inspiration for women with breast cancer and their families, the Texas Chrysalis Foundation has expanded its initial program at Harris Methodist HEB Fitness Center in Bedford, TX by partnering with Texas Christian University and Arlington Memorial Hospital to offer The N.E.A.T. Program® to women in surrounding areas of Fort Worth and Arlington, Texas.
The Texas Chrysalis Foundation’s expansion plans include opening new locations for The N.E.A.T. Program® in Dallas and Denton, Texas. The long term goal of the Foundation is to support women across the country by offering The N.E.A.T. Program® nationally.
